The rooms at La Colmena are absolutely amazing! They have everything you need for a comfortable stay. The hydro-massage shower is like heaven after a long day of exploring. And the spaciousness of the rooms is just perfect for someone like me who travels with a backpack.
Personally, I didn't like the bathtubs in the bathrooms. But hey, that's just me.

The central location in the town of Luarca
Not a fault of the hotel but the free public parking for Luarca is a long walk from the hotel and the local signage in the town was very unhelpful - it would direct you so far then 'leave you for dead' in the last few hundred meters!

Good location in centre of town. Nice clean hotel.
Bit of a walk back up the hill to the station - not the hotels fault though!

Centrally located, easy access to transport, beautiful coast, helpful staff, free WiFi, plenty of nearby attractions.
Sunday breakfast timing was inconvenient, but who needs breakfast when you have all these lovely places to explore? *eye roll*

Nothing. The room was the noisiest we have encountered. The staff was non-existent. They left at night, locked the door and went home. The floor of our room was the ceiling of the bar. Fyi: the Hotel Gayosso is an abandoned building. It has been closed for years. You gave it 4 stars.

Our stay at La Colmena was fantastic! We spent a few days exploring Luarca and the surrounding area, and the hotel's location couldn't have been better. Nestled in a picturesque canyon, with a working port and stunning viewpoints nearby, it offered a true taste of local life. The cleanliness, friendly staff, perfect location, and lovely upper deck bar with great views were all standout features. And let's not forget the amazing shower with its huge head attachment! Lastly, the train station was just a short walk away, providing convenient transportation options.
Would recommend this hotel.
